Terms of Service

Welcome to KeyCrumbs. These terms are an agreement between you and Midwinter Studios LLC. By downloading or using the KeyCrumbs app, you agree to them — so please read them. We've tried to keep them readable.

1. Who we are & acceptance

KeyCrumbs is operated by Midwinter Studios LLC ("KeyCrumbs," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use KeyCrumbs.

2. Who can use KeyCrumbs

You must be at least 13 years old to use KeyCrumbs. By using the app, you confirm that you can form a binding agreement with us and that you'll comply with these terms and all applicable laws.

3. What KeyCrumbs is

KeyCrumbs is a community-powered app for finding and sharing information about access at public and semi-public places — things like restroom codes, Wi-Fi passwords, and keypad entries. The information comes from the community, not from us.

4. Your account

You can browse without an account, but you'll need to sign in to post or vote. You're responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login secure. Let us know promptly if you suspect unauthorized use.

5. Community content & your responsibilities

When you add a code, location, note, or vote ("your content"), you agree that:

• You have the right to share it, and sharing it doesn't break any law or any agreement you've made (for example, an employer or building policy).
• You won't post information that is confidential, security-sensitive, or that you were trusted to keep private — such as codes to private residences, restricted areas, or anything meant to be kept secure.
• You won't post anything unlawful, harmful, deceptive, infringing, or that violates someone else's rights or privacy.

You keep ownership of your content. You grant KeyCrumbs a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and share it within the app so the community can use it. We may review, moderate, or remove content, and may suspend accounts that misuse the service — but we're not obligated to monitor everything.

6. Accuracy & "as is" information

Community information can be wrong, outdated, or changed without notice. We don't verify or guarantee that any code, password, or detail is accurate, current, or authorized. You rely on community information at your own discretion.

7. Acceptable use

Please don't:

• Use KeyCrumbs to gain unauthorized access to any property, network, or system, or to facilitate any illegal activity.
• Post spam, harassment, hateful content, or anyone's private personal information.
• Scrape, reverse engineer, overload, or interfere with the app or its security.
• Misrepresent yourself or impersonate others.

8. Intellectual property

KeyCrumbs, the KeyCrumbs name and logo, and the app itself are owned by Midwinter Studios LLC and protected by law. These terms don't give you any right to use our branding without permission.

9. Third-party services

KeyCrumbs relies on third-party services (such as maps, authentication, and hosting). Your use of those features may also be subject to the third party's terms, and we're not responsible for third-party services.

10. Disclaimers

KeyCrumbs is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that community information will be accurate or reliable.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Midwinter Studios LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of — or inability to use — KeyCrumbs or any community information found through it.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Midwinter Studios LLC from claims, losses, and expenses arising out of your content, your use of the app, or your violation of these terms or the law.

13. Termination

You can stop using KeyCrumbs at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these terms or to protect the app and its users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as content licenses, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive.

14. Changes

We may update the app and these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll revise the "last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use KeyCrumbs after changes means you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, unless applicable law provides otherwise.
